Make a Difference…Volunteer!

As a not-for-profit organization, we depend on volunteers for our day-to-day operations. Volunteers helps in virtually all aspects of our organization, and we are always looking for caring, committed volunteers! Volunteering at Safe Harbor is a rewarding experience because you can make a difference in the lives of people in our very own community.

Volunteer at safe harbor

Volunteers that work in the office, or on the Domestic Violence Crisis 24-Hour Hotline are required to complete a 40-hour domestic violence training course. After completing the training, volunteers can help with tasks such as: assisting our child advocate in the child care room, facilitate group discussions and classes, accompany clients to court, and taking a shift answering calls on the 24-Hour crisis hotline.

Would you like to make a difference in a child’s life? Our SHINE (Support, Hope, Inspire, Nurture, Empower) program is for children ages 5-18 who have been victims of domestic violence. We will match volunteer mentors with a child, and will provide support and resources throughout the program to help make the relationship between the mentor and men-tee a successful one. All mentors will be required to make a minimum commitment of 1 year to the program, complete the domestic violence mentorship training, and pass all background checks.

Volunteer at the purple hanger

The Purple Hanger is a resale shop that sells clothing, home decor, accessories, furniture, books, and more. Money earned at the store directly benefits Safe Harbor. The Purple Hanger needs dedicated volunteers to help: run the register, sort through donations, organize shelves and racks, and help keep the store tidy. If you have a knack for organization, we want you on our team!
